Abby Lee Miller Speaks Out After Prison Sentence
After being sentenced to a year in prison, former “Dance Moms” star Abby Lee Miller is breaking her silence!
In an interview with "Good Morning America,” Miller felt that her sentence of a year and a day “sounds like a movie title." She plans on living her prison sentence like a movie, too! She said, "I'm just gonna pretend I'm shooting a movie and we're on set and I'm there for 10 months, and that's the way it's gonna be.”
How will she be utilizing her time in prison? The 50-year-old revealed that she was going to read, learn Spanish and write a book. Watch!
In fall 2015, Miller was indicted for concealment of bankruptcy assets, bankruptcy fraud, and false bankruptcy declarations for hiding about $775,000 after her bankruptcy filing. She was also accused of smuggling around $120,000 into America from Australia with the use of plastic Ziploc bags, which were put into her group's luggage. She pled guilty to bankruptcy fraud and failing to report an international monetary transaction in June 2016.
When asked about the headlines that she attempted to hide $775,000, she screamed and said, "I don't wanna hear that number anymore!” She reiterated that she didn't “intentionally” hide the money, saying, "I wasn't ever trying to hurt anyone.”
A few weeks before receiving her sentence, Abby announced that she was quitting “Dance Moms.” After her surprise exit, she is focused on being a "smarter businesswoman and also to worry about myself.” Miller added, "I have spent so much time and so much energy making other people's children stars. I didn't have any children of my own — these were my kids, and I raised them like they were my kids.”
