Chris Soules Arrested After Deadly Car Crash
UPDATE: Chris' rep has released a statement, telling "Extra" on Tuesday, "Chris Soules was involved in an accident Monday evening (April 24) in a rural part of Iowa near his home. He was devastated to learn that Kenneth Mosher, the other person in the accident, passed away. His thoughts and prayers and with Mr. Mosher's family.”
“The Bachelor” alum Chris Soules is in trouble with the law after being involved in a deadly car crash Monday night.
Soules was behind the wheel of a Chevy pickup that rear-ended a tractor trailer in Arlington, Iowa. After the collision, both vehicles ended up in roadside ditches. The driver of the tractor, Kenneth Mosher, 66, was rushed to the hospital, where he died of his injuries. TMZ was the first the news. Listen to the dispatch audio below.
According to People magazine, Soules was arrested at 1:16 a.m. Tuesday and is currently in custody.
In court documents obtained by "Extra," he has been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident, but not charged with driving under the influence. The papers stated, "After investigating the incident, it was determined that Christopher Douglas Soules was involved in the motor vehicle collision which resulted in a fatality. Christoper Soules left the scene of the motor vehicle collision. Soules did not return and remain at the scene of the accident."
Court documents also reveal that alcoholic beverages or containers were found at the scene of the accident.
Earlier this morning, the 35-year-old appeared in court, where the judge set his bond at $10,000. If released, he will be on pretrial release, be required to wear an ankle bracelet, and will have to surrender his passport.
According to court records, Soules was convicted of operating a vehicle while intoxicated in 2006.
Soules was the star of the 19th season of “The Bachelor” in 2015. He gave his final rose to Whitney Bischoff, but they broke off their engagement just months later.
