Did the DGA Awards Just Predict Which Film Will Win the Oscar?
On Saturday, Damien Chazelle, director of the acclaimed romantic musical "La La Land," won the coveted Directors Guild of America award for his movie, possibly locking it in as the one to beat at the Oscars later this month.
Chazelle prevailed over the directors of the films "Lion" (Garth Davis), "Moonlight" (Barry Jenkins), "Manchester by the Sea" (Kenneth Lonergan) and "Arrival" (Denis Villeneuve).
Davis was honored as best first-time director.
On the TV side, Becky Martin won for "Veep" and Miguel Sapochnik won for "Game of Thrones."
