Selena Gomez Stuns at the AMAs on the Carpet and in Heartfelt Speech After Career Break
Missing in action since she took a break from the public eye to focus on her emotional well-being, singer Selena Gomez stunned at the AMAs with a heartfelt acceptance speech that had stars like Lady Gaga hanging on her every word.
Selena, who won for Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist in an upset over Adele, said, "I don't wanna see your bodies on Instagram, I wanna see what's in here." She tapped her chest to indicate her heart, tearing up as she continued. "I'm not trying to get validation, nor do I need it anymore. All I can say, from the bottom of my heart, is I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to be able to share what I love every single day with people that I love."
She went on to heap praise on her supportive fans, saying, "And I have to say thank you so much to my fans because you guys are so damn loyal, and I don't know what I did to deserve you. But if you are broken, you do not have to stay broken, and if that's anything — whether you respect me or not — that's one thing you should know about me, is I care about people, and thank you so much for this, this is for you, thank you."

Gomez also returned to the red carpet in top form at the show, choosing a dramatic Prada gown for her comeback.
Gomez was radiant in a scarlet sleeveless gown with an A-line skirt, center-parted shiny hair with a small ponytail, and diamond earrings.
Looking happy, Gomez had earlier wowed fans with a sneak peek at her look, courtesy of makeup artist Hung Vanngo, who posted a head shot of his glammed-up client with the caption, "Reunited with this amazing lady today for the #AMAs," following by all the credits for her polished look.

Gomez's temporary departure from the industry was to get help dealing with anxiety and panic attacks, which she has related to her lupus diagnosis. “As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways,” she told People magazine back in August. "I've discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges.”
Supportive celebs took to social media to post words and images of encouragement for Selena.
