Beyoncé, Jay Z, & Rachel Roy Hit CFDA Awards Despite ‘Lemonade’ Drama
Last night, Beyoncé and Jay Z made their first public appearance since her controversial album “Lemonade” was released in April.
Though the power couple did not pose together on the red carpet at the 2016 CFDA Awards, he was spotted holding hands with their daughter Blue Ivy at the star-studded event.
Beyoncé was on hand to accept the Fashion Icon Award from fashion designer Diane von Fürstenberg. When she came onstage, she told the audience, "For as long as I can remember, fashion has been a part of my life. When I wore these clothes onstage, I felt like Khaleesi. Having presence is about so much more than what you wear.”
Another fashion designer in the same room was Rachel Roy, who was rumored to be the subject of Beyoncé s “Becky with the good hair” lyric in her song “Sorry” after a flippant post on Instagram. Back in April, Rachel denied reports about an alleged relationship with Jay Z, telling People magazine, "I want to put the speculation and rumors to rest. My Instagram post was meant to be fun and lighthearted; it was misunderstood as something other than that. There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally. There is no truth to the rumors."
Beyoncé took a break from performing to attend the ceremony and will continue her tour tonight at Citi Field in Queens, New York.
