Head-Butts, Headlocks, and Windex! Taryn Manning's Lawyer Says Alleged Assault Was 'Fabricated'
Taryn Manning's attorney is denying claims that the “Orange Is the New Black” star attacked her former friend Holly Hartman.
According to People, Hartman filed for a restraining order against the actress, claiming she was assaulted. Legal docs obtained by the magazine state that Manning head-butted Hartman, put her in a headlock, and sprayed Windex in her eyes while she was at Manning's NYC apartment in November.
An L.A. judge declined the request for a restraining order because the alleged incident took place in another state.
The women have had legal issues in the past. Manning was arrested in 2012 for assaulting Hartman, but the charges were dropped.
Manning's lawyer says the new claims of assault were fabricated.
In a statement to People, her legal counsel said, "The court has already denied the request by Ms. Hartman for a temporary restraining order. The application for the order is suspect because Ms. Manning has had no contact with Ms. Hartman in many months due to Ms. Hartman's actions against Ms. Manning which are currently under criminal investigation in multiple jurisdictions. These investigations have long predated these entirely fabricated allegations.”
The missive continued, “Ms. Hartman is under investigation for stalking Ms. Manning and for theft and other crimes. It is clear that Ms. Hartman's camp has leaked these allegations which were not available publicly to elevate her own position and obscure her own wrongdoing."
