'NCIS' Star Pauley Perrette Opens Up About Her Life Since the Attack and More
“Extra's” Charissa Thompson caught up with “NCIS” star Pauley Perrette at Universal Studios Hollywood to find out how she's doing after being attacked by a homeless man near her home last year.
She explained, “I was just walking down the street and I got attacked and punched, and [he] repeatedly told me he was going to kill me and my life was in so much danger. So I'm super grateful to be here.”
Perrette says she made it through the incident with her faith. “He was stronger than I was… I was praying my heart out, he kept saying my name is William, I'm going to kill you… I just froze and just said to him, 'William is a beautiful name, I have a little nephew named William' and he went to punch me and just let me go.”
The 46-year-old is staying strong and becoming an advocate for the homeless. “I've always been a lifelong advocate for the homeless, then after this terrible thing happened… a big part of what I was feeling was my heart was breaking for this man… that could have been anybody, it just happened to be me… they have nowhere to go and no one is helping and it just motivated me more.”
She did admit she is still afraid. “It definitely has added a fear to my life, which is not a good thing and I don't like it.”
Pauley also talked about spending 13 years of her life playing Abby on “NCIS.” “I've been doing it for this long and I love it.”
As for Michael Weatherly leaving the show, she said, “My heart is broken,” adding that the two are the best of friends. “I love him with all of my heart and he is in every sense of the word my brother.”
Perrette didn't say why he is leaving. “It took him four hours to explain to me what's going on, so there is no way I can explain it, also it's not my story to tell.” She did share that “Whether you're filming or off the set, you have no idea what's going to come out of his mouth, there is no telling.”
As for Monday's “NCIS” Pauley told Charissa, “This is a scuba-diving episode,” and gushed, “It's so exciting because my fiancé is a scuba diver instructor.” She said she even brought him to the set when they filmed!
