Lady Gaga Pays Tribute to Alexander McQueen, Shares ‘Sign of Love from Beyond'
Pop star Lady Gaga went to great lengths to get her hands on Alexander McQueen's “armadillo" boots from the late designer's Spring/Summer 2010 Plato's Atlantis Ready-to-Wear Collection.
The boots likely hold sentimental value for Gaga. Fans may recall that McQueen debuted the Plato's Atlantis line as a livestream on SHOWstudio.com in 2009. The site crashed when Gaga tweeted that the models would be walking to her brand new single, “Bad Romance.”
Gaga's connection to the show may explain why she paid a whopping $295,000 for three pairs of the rare boots, which were never sold in stores. The guide price was $10,000 per pair.
Mother Monster modeled the extraordinary shoes — which are made of wood and python leather — at her home in Manhattan, and posted the pics on Instagram. One caption said, “When a gift comes to you from Heaven photo by Taylor Kinney best fiancée [sic] ever.”
Another photo included the message, “Long Live McQueen. Look monsters, we got a sign of love from the beyond. Photo by the babes.”
McQueen committed suicide in February 2010.
