Amy Schumer and Mindy Kaling Top Adweek's Creative 100
Funny gals Amy Schumer and Mindy Kaling have made Adweek's Creative 100 list, grabbing the entertainment world with a firm female grip!
Adweek says the list is comprised of “a compendium of today's most inventive and multi-talented professionals… a list of 10 celebrities and influencers who we feel are consistently challenging their industries, audiences and peers to look at creativity in new and adventurous ways.”
Schumer is definitely challenging the industry with her newest film “Trainwreck,” which is already a smash at the box office.
According to Variety, “This is the birth of a new film star,” said Phil Contrino, VP and Chief Analyst at BoxOffice.com. “She's going to get tons of offers. This puts her in the same realm as Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig.”
Adweek commented, “She isn't just the next Tina Fey — she's the first Amy Schumer.”
Mindy Kaling is another soaring name in entertainment, first known for her role on “The Office,” later with her own TV show, “The Mindy Project.”
Greg Daniels described her creativity. “Mindy's bursting with creativity, and the more that we incorporated her personality and ways that she could be funny, the more the character changed…she was not interested in being funny as a beautiful, hard-working, good-worker character. She had all these comic flaws.”
Mindy has authored two books and has made several film appearances. Her show continues to be successful with several high-ranking guest stars, like Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
