Bruce Jenner Fears Backlash After Diane Sawyer Interview: ‘How Does My Story End?’
Bruce Jenner's sit-down with Diane Sawyer, in which the former Olympian will discuss his family, his journey, his decisions, and what he fears most -- the future -- will air Friday evening on ABC's “20/20.”
Jenner tells Sawyer in a new promo, "I wanna know how this story ends, you know? How does my story end?"
Sawyer can be seen comforting Jenner at the beginning, when an emotional Jenner reveals, “It's going to be an emotional roller coaster, but somehow I'm gonna get through it.”
Jenner, who has previously not answered questions about his transition, is expected to discuss the difficulties of day-to-day life living as a man, and open up about the first time he identified as a woman.
He has reportedly been wearing women's clothing at home for weeks, but is still photographed wearing more masculine outfits in public, which according to RadarOnline.com is because the reality star has some fears.
A source told the website that as the interview gets closer to airing, Bruce “has been getting very nervous, because he is afraid of backlash from his fans.”
The source went on to explain, “This is a very, very confusing time for Bruce, and he has been living two lives. Bruce just doesn't think the world is ready to see him wearing the women's silk shirts that he prefers to wear. Bruce has been wearing women's clothes and lingerie at home almost full-time now, with sons Brandon and Brody visiting and not having any problem with their dad's changing appearance.”
Jenner's number one concern seems to be his family, saying in the new promo, "I can't let myself hurt them," and that family members are "the only ones I'm concerned with."
The interview that everyone is talking about airs Friday at 9 pm on ABC.
