How Nigella Lawson Dealt with ‘Mortifying’ Trial: ‘A Lot of Chocolate’
Celebrity chef Nigella Lawson has recently had a rough time of it, but her love for chocolate helped.
In an appearance on “Good Morning America” on Thursday, Lawson spoke about the recent fraud trial involving her two former assistants, which shined an ugly light on her private life, with allegations Lawson abused drugs -- a claim she denied.
Lawson said, “To have not only your private live, but distortions of your private life put on display is mortifying. My only desire really was to protect my children as much as possible, which I wasn't, alas, I couldn't do.”
Nigella laughingly said, “I've eaten a lot of chocolate, had a very good Christmas and I'm into the New Year.”
Lawson's former employees were acquitted of fraud after allegations that they used company credit cards for personal expenses.
The trial followed an acrimonious split this summer from Nigella's husband, advertising magnate Charles Saatchi.
Lawson will return as a judge on Season 2 of “The Taste.”
