Miley Cyrus Blasts Twerk Haters: 'I Don't Pay Attention to the Negative'
Singer Miley Cyrus hit back at haters in a new MTV interview, claiming her teddy bear twerkfest and sexed-up “Blurred Lines” duet with Robin Thicke will go down in VMA history.
“I don’t pay attention to the negative,” she explained, adding, “Me and Robin, the whole time said, ‘You know we’re about to make history right now.’”
In Miley’s eyes, the twerk romp was comparable to past performances by Madonna and Britney Spears.
“How many times have we seen this play out in pop history?” she asked. “You know now. Madonna’s done it, Britney’s done it, every VMA performance. Anyone who performs, that’s what you are looking for. You want to make history.”
Cyrus also thinks everyone is way “over-thinking” the performance. “You are thinking about it more than I thought about it when I did it.”
This past weekend, Robin Thicke was in Miami Beach, performing at Fontainebleau Hotel's Labor Day Pool Party. The "Blurred Lines" singer said, "I'm not really the crazy type. You know, I just try to sing my best and give everybody a good time."
