'The Voice' Coaches Like You've Never Seen Them Before
"Extra’s" Mario Lopez caught up with “The Voice" coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira and Usher, along with host Carson Daly and social media correspondent Christina Milian for a special event at The Grove. The coaches got up close and personal and let loose on each other like never before.
Blake and Adam told Mario that new kids on the block Usher and Shakira have fit right in on the show. Adam said, “I love these guys, we’ve connected very quickly.” Usher added that the experience was “everything I expected and then some… We were welcomed from ‘Hello.’”
Shakira put in her two cents. “I thought they were going to be easier, but these guys… they're a lot to take... but I'm the youngest one of eight siblings... so I can take boys.”
Carson Daly joked that Blake isn’t always as easy to work with as the others. “Well, you get Blake on a day when he hasn't had enough beer in him and he's kind of grumpy...”
The coaches are also busy off of the set. Usher told Mario about performing at Michael Jordan’s wedding, “Oh man it was cool, it was the last time I made a grand appearance at a wedding... I performed five songs… All of the Bulls, I invited them to the stage... We had a good time... They really had an incredible wedding.”
Shakira opened up about life with her 3-month-old baby Milan, saying that motherhood is nothing like she imagined it would be. “I'm figuring it out as I go, but it's great, it’s full of surprises... Nothing like I imagined it would be.”
Mario asked Blake if he and wife Miranda are planning to have babies any time soon. Blake said, “Well, we've been working on it for a while.” Blake also commented on the tabloid rumors, saying, “Let me tell you something, the magazines have fun with you because sometimes you're getting divorced, sometimes you're having a baby." Blake went on to joke, “The truth is... I've been drinking a lot and I don't remember what all's been happening, so I pick up those magazines to find out what the real truth is.”
“The Voice” airs tonight on NBC.
