Kate Upton on Being Curvy: ‘I Can’t Change Some Things’
Gracing the June cover of Vogue for the first time, Sports Illustrated lovely Kate Upton, 20, showed off her fabulous bod, and talked about the struggles modeling in a size-0 world.
Referring to online commenters who've called Upton "fat," she told Vogue, "It was hard at first. You sit there and you're like, 'Is something wrong with me?'"
She continued, “The things that they're rejecting are things that I can't change. I can't change my bra size. They're natural! I can work out and I can stay healthy and motivated, but I can't change some things."
Upton instead decided to stop listening to all the negativity. "I really just live my life," she said. "I love my body. It's what God gave me! I feel confident with myself, and if that inspires other women to feel confident with their bodies, great. It's kind of funny to think, 'Oh, wow, the news is talking about whether I'm fat or not.'”
She also wants to connect with her fans through Twitter and funny short videos, rather than just smile at them from a cover. “I didn't buy the magazines that had models on the covers, because I didn't know them," she said. "So I think this kind of gives me, as a model, a personality that people can connect with."
