Al Roker Defends Matt Lauer, Talks Weight Loss
“Extra’s” AJ Calloway sat down with the “Today” show staple Al Roker, who opened up about the show’s recent personnel shakeup and about his weight loss journey, chronicled in his new book, “Never Goin’ Back: Winning the Weight Loss Battle for Good.”
Roker told Calloway there are two painful things about the changes on the show. “Not seeing Ann every day and the unfair attacks on Matt, just are not warranted, just lies, out-and-out lies. We are lucky to have this guy on our show, and I think as time goes on, people will realize what a crock this all is.”
The TV host also talked about his decision to have gastric bypass surgery. “A lot of people say, ‘Oh you had a bypass, you cheated, you took the easy way out.’ Hey, there’s nothing easy about it!”
Roker’s book, “Never Goin’ Back: Winning the Weight Loss Battle for Good,” is on bookshelves now.
