Former Miss Teen Universe Lotte van der Zee Dead at 20
Miss Teen Universe 2017 Lotte van der Zee has passed away at the age of 20.

On Thursday, her parents released a statement on her Instagram that read, “Our pearl, our everything passed away on Wednesday evening March 6th at 22:47. It is incredibly surreal that our dearly beloved Lotte is not around us anymore. Our hearts are truly broken💔 We would like to thank you all again for all the support and heartwarming messages.”

Van der Zee had been placed in a medically induced coma after suffering “sudden cardiac arrest” on a ski trip in late February. A week ago, a photo was released of her in a hospital. Her family revealed, “Lotte's situation is unfortunately still unchanged. However, she has now been transferred to an academic hospital in Munich, where she is still kept a sleep under intensive supervision of the doctors in order to monitor her health.”

According to a local newspaper, Lotte had been hanging out with friends before the heart attack. Her parents weren't concerned by her night out since she returned “cheerfully and without health complaints.”
Her parents grew concerned when she didn't come out for breakfast, due to illness. She was rushed to a hospital after suffering the heart attack just a day before her 20th birthday.

The cause of her heart attack is still being determined.
