The countdown is on for the premiere of “American Idol,” set to launch in four months! “Extra’s” Renee Bargh spoke with judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, who are hard at work and loving it!
Luke defended country music buddy Blake Shelton after haters took to social media to voice their disapproval over his People’s “Sexiest Man Alive” title. Bryan said, “Yes, I know... it's the topic… you know I roasted him in the beginning… and now that the world is coming at my guy. Blake, come on, you know, he's a good looking dude.”
When Luke asked if Renee has ever “gazed into his blue eyes” she replied, “Many times.” Luke smiled, “It's quite cosmic I must say.”
Richie said of his "Idol" experience so far, “This was exactly what I was praying for, which was… having a group of people that you enjoy being around.” Luke added, “God has laid his hands on these people's voices and it's inspiring.” Katy chimed in, “It just reminds of you of your, like, first love for music and why you did it, and why you started, so it's a beautiful thing.”
Katy is pulling double duty, working on “Idol” while she is on tour. She shared, “I did use my voice finally… I'm hearing that.. lost my voice just a little bit, but I am learning a delicate balance.”
Perry recently had a post-concert meet and greet with Kim Kardashian and her daughter North, posting a pic on Instagram and calling herself, “the secret Kardashian.” She commented, “I mean, I was just impressed that she came. I was, like, cool, Kim Kardashian coming to a show! Am I cool yet? No.”
The new “American Idol” debuts in March on ABC.
