Katy Perry in Talks to Be an 'American Idol' Judge
Just as her "Bon Appétit" single and music video are making an impact, Katy Perry is the latest top pop star said to be talking with ABC about joining the network's reboot of "American Idol."
According to Variety, Perry had previously turned down an offer to be a judge on the FOX version of the show, but is now "in talks" with producers to sit on the panel of judges. The closest she has come until now was a Season 9 guest-judge stint on the show, when she sat in for Paula Abdul.
Meanwhile, "AI" veterans Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson have already been announced to be joining Season 12 of "The Voice," "AI's" rival talent-competition show.
Variety reports more "big names" are being bandied about to join "Idol," so stay tuned.
Amid the "American Idol" rumors, Katy was opening KIIS FM 102.7's Wango Tango at the Stubhub Center this weekend. During her set, she rocked a Miyake shirt-dress paired with Dear Frances boots while performing her hits "Chained to the Rhythm," "Teenage Dream," "Firework," "Dark Horse" and "E.T."
Perry also announced that she is releasing her new album "Witness," which drops June 9. Along with the album, she will be hitting the road on a new tour that kicks off September 7.
