New Details! Inside Gwen and Gavin’s $115-Mil Divorce
Was Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale's split a surprise divorce... or was it a long time coming? After nearly 13 years, the couple says their marriage is officially over.
Both filed for divorce this week. In court docs obtained by “Extra,” Stefani cites irreconcilable differences, and both are asking for joint custody of their three children; Kingston, 9, Zuma, 6, and Apollo, 1.
Only months ago, Gwen told “Extra's” Renee Bargh that their busy schedules had been taking a toll.
“The Voice” coach explained, “You know, it's been really challenging, but it's worked out… it's kind of one day at a time, like this week is really hard Gavin's on tour, so I'm like, 'Ugh, how am I going to make this work?'”
Stefani added, “Thank goodness for, like, FaceTime and all that, but it all works out and I just feel really blessed… there are so many fun things that I get to do right now and it's like a whole new chapter for me.”
Gwen also admitted to Ryan Seacrest last year that her hit song “Baby Don't Lie,” was partly autobiographical. “I think parts of it are, and parts of it are pulling from the past… but things are really good with me and Gavin if everyone is wondering.”
Just before their 11th anniversary, Gavin reflected on their marriage, telling “Extra” that 11 years is a “lifetime here in Hollywood. The secret? I don't know, having a great girl, trying to live up to that.”
Gwen, who launched a solo career after No Doubt and owns a clothing empire, is reportedly worth $80 million, while Bush frontman Gavin is worth about $35 million.
The two reportedly have no prenup, and Stefani is asking the judge to deny Gavin spousal support. California is a community property state, so they will likely split their fortune.
They released a joint statement to “Extra,” saying, "While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment. To that end, we respectfully request privacy from the media during this time.”
