New Han Solo Makes His Debut at Star Wars Celebration
It is official… Alden Ehrenreich is the new Han Solo! Ehrenreich has some big shoes to fill, as he takes on the role originated by Harrison Ford for a new spin-off movie.
While Alden's casting had been rumored for a while, the news was confirmed today at Star Wars Celebration Europe in London at the Future Filmmakers Panel.
ExtraTV.com as there as Ehrenreich told the crowd, “I auditioned for about six months. The coolest part of that audition process was I went on the Falcon… it's pretty unbelievable.”
The screen test also involved Chewbacca! “I've never screen-tested with a Wookiee. It was amazing.”
Chris Miller, who is co-directing the spin-off film with Philip Lord, said that filming will start in late January or early February, adding that there are lots of sets, droids, and creatures to build in the meantime.
Before landing the role of Han Solo, Alden starred in films like “Hail, Caesar!” and “Blue Jasmine.”
