Ben Affleck Dishes on Being a Normal Dad and His Family’s Halloween Plans

Actor Ben Affleck is heading back to the big screen in the new movie “The Accountant,” but at home, he is dad to his three kids — daughters Violet, 10, Seraphina, 7, and Samuel, 4. The 44-year-old actor sat down with “Extra's” Mario Lopez to talk about his role and how he likes to spend his time when he's not shooting a film.

Affleck shared, “My time is dictated a lot more by what the kids want to do, what they're interested in, dropping them off at karate, soccer, the normal things you do.” One thing his kids are especially interested in is Halloween, which is just a month away! He said, “I got to come up with a pretty good costume, the pressure is definitely on, the kids haven't decided what they're going to be, we have another month or so.”

Ben is also making time for charity work, his latest a campaign for Omaze. The launch video went viral, with Ben and Matt Damon rifting over who is better friends with superstar quarterback Tom Brady. Fans have a chance to bid to win a hangout sesh with Affleck, Damon, and Brady in Boston. In the video, Damon rocks a ponytail, or what Ben pointed out is “the man bun.” The trio is raising funds for their own charities. Ben plugged, “Should be fun, you can go on Omaze and bid, It will be a good time for sure.

What is also fun for Ben is playing Batman. Director Zack Snyder recently shared a first look image at the "tactical Batsuit.” Ben dished, “There's two suits in 'Justice League,' one that he augments because of the nature of the mission, which I can't say.” Though he stayed mum on the next Batman film, he did say that J.K. Simmons will be in it!

Another movie Ben is starring in is “The Accountant,” in which he plays Christian Wolff, a mathematics savant with more affinity for numbers than people. Using a small-town CPA office as a cover, he makes his living as a forensic accountant for dangerous criminal organizations. Affleck remarked, “I was left with a really interesting, complicated part to play that was always realistic.”

Ben revealed he's pretty good at math in real life, saying, “I'm okay, I'm no genius for sure... I like that part of it, I like that he was somebody for who math was comforting and appealing.” Ben admitted he still struggles with the subject during homework time with the kids, explaining, “I think it's because they do it differently than now.” He laughed, “My daughter thinks it's so funny to go, 'Are you smarter than a fifth grader?' 'cause she's a fifth grader and occasionally I stumble with some of these problems.”

Aside from Ben, Anna Kendrick, Jeffrey Tambor, and John Lithgow are all part of the film. Director Gavin O'Connor raved, “Once Ben decided to do the movie, I was making a movie, so then it was like how to fill in the cast, so we had conversations about actors we like and who we wanted to work with… People to show up and do the work and bring not only their talent but kindness.”
