Jessica Simpson Says Husband Eric Johnson Is Her 'Sexual Shaman'
Jessica Simpson just released her new memoir “Open Book,” and celebrated with a book signing at Barnes & Noble Union Square in NYC.
“Extra's” Cheslie Kryst was with the singer, fashion mogul, mother, and wife, who opened up about her past and present.
Simpson was joined at the book signing by husband Eric Johnson and their three children Ace, Maxwell, and Birdie.
Jessica had wonderful things to say about Eric, sharing, “He has taught me how to live my best authentic life.”
She told Cheslie about their sex life, revealing, “With Eric, we connect mind, body, soul — it's a very spiritual experience… I call him my sexual shaman.”
Jessica went on to reveal what some of the men in her life have taught her. Nick Lachey? "How to love." Johnny Knoxville? “He taught me how to grow up.” John Mayer? “He taught me that nobody deserves to be broken up with eight times.”
In the book, Simpson reveals being sexually abused starting at age 6. She told Kryst, “I think it definitely affected a lot in my life. It definitely didn't help with insomnia… Going back and learning about it and walking through it with a therapist, for me, was very healing.”
Her drinking is also something she describes confronting in the book, saying, “I think that people knew I was drinking a lot… It was just something that was distracting me from being clear and being present and being honest. I really needed to handle my anxieties head-on.”
The star's body image was one of those anxieties, and she's looking and feeling great now, after working hard since welcoming her third baby. “I feel very confident… Eric has embraced me at every size and loved me just the same.”
The 39-year-old is thrilled about the reception she is receiving from her book, saying, “I am elated! I am so overjoyed right now. Everything just feels so magical. We are in Barnes & Noble and here's my book. It's like, 'What?' It was a labor of love.”
She went on, “I was going through all my journals. I kept journals since I was 15, so to read back on those experiences and all the relationships I had with myself, faith is the constant for me… yeah, it was very therapeutic.”
“I have had so many people find inspiration from it and that's why I wanted to share my story, because I wanted people to know I'm just like them,” Simpson said.
The star is also releasing six songs with the audiobook. “It allows me to breathe again. I can put music with an audiobook; it doesn't have to all be the traditional way.”
“Open Book” is available now.
