Angelina Jolie Isn’t Backing Down! The Latest on Her Ugly Divorce from Brad Pitt
Angelina Jolie is fighting back in her all-out custody battle with Brad Pitt.
First she accused him of not paying “meaningful” child support, but he claimed he had loaned her $8 million to buy a house and given her $1.3 million for expenses.
Now, Jolie's attorney Samantha Bley DeJean tells People that “a loan is not, however, child support and to represent it as such is misleading and inaccurate.”
Bley DeJean says that after the split, Brad kept the family home and Angelina and the kids moved out. Angelina asked for help purchasing a new home, but Brad offered a loan with interest instead. The actress plans to “honor that loan.”
What is Jolie hoping for? Her lawyer says the actress wants “Brad to pay 50% of the children's expenses,” and legal docs indicate she is looking for “retroactive child support” as well.
Brad may end up paying more than just child support. A new report from TheBlast.com says Angelina may come after her ex for palimony.
While they were only married for two years, sources say Jolie is thinking about filing a Marvin claim, which would make anything they made in their nearly 12-year relationship community property.
The site says Brad is worth $240 million and Angelina is worth $160 million.
Back in June, the exes made headlines when court docs revealed a judge wanted Brad to spend more time with their six children.
While eldest son Maddox, 16, was allowed to choose his own custody arrangements, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge John W. Ouderkirk was clear that moving forward, Brad would have more contact with the younger children, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 9.
Angelina and Brad split in September 2016 after two years of marriage. They had been partners since 2005.
