David Cassidy Needs Liver Transplant to Survive
Former teen heartthrob and "The Partridge Family" star David Cassidy has been hospitalized due to organ failure, his publicist Jo-Ann Geffen confirmed to Variety on Saturday.
Geffen confirmed to "Extra" later in the day, "He is in liver and kidney failure. Currently he is conscious after being in an induced coma and he is surrounded by his family."
A source close to Cassidy told "Extra" exclusively that the support pouring in from around the world has not only been "insane," but "medical experts are offering advice and people have offered their organs for transplant." According to the source, Cassidy could survive if he receives a new liver.
Cassidy, 67, had announced his dementia diagnosis earlier this year following an unsteady live performance.
