Van Halen guitarist Eddie Van Halen has died at the age of 65.
TMZ reports Van Halen died at Providence Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica Tuesday after losing his long battle with throat cancer.

According to TMZ, the cancer had spread to his brain and other organs in the last 72 hours of his life.

View StoryWolfgang confirmed his death on Twitter. He wrote, “I can't believe I'm having to write this, but my father Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, has lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning.”
“He was the best father I could ever ask for. Every moment I've shared with him on and off stage was a gift,” Wolfgang continued. “My heart is broken and I don't think I'll ever fully recover from this loss.”
Wolfgang ended his statement with a note to his dad, writing, “I love you so much, Pop.”
Sources told TMZ that Van Halen had been in and out of the hospital for the past year. He recently underwent a round of chemotherapy and treatment for intestinal problems.
Earlier this year, his former bandmate David Lee Roth opened up about Van Halen's health, telling The Las Vegas-Review Journal, “Ed's not doing well, and singing and dancing is a perishable skill. If you have the capacity, it's something that has to be used routinely, if not for the thrill of it and the magic of creating with other incandescent spirits.”
Last year, TMZ reported that Van Halen had been traveling to Germany for cancer treatment over the past five years.
Van Halen was first diagnosed with tongue cancer in 2000. At the time, doctors removed part of his tongue.
Van Halen is survived by his wife Janie, and Wolfgang from his previous marriage to Bertinelli.
