Miranda Lambert’s New Tattoo Is a Reminder of Her Terrible Year
On Wednesday night, Miranda Lambert performed with her BFFs Ashley Monroe, Nicolle Galyon, and Shane McAnally at Nashville's City Winery, where she opened up about her tough 2015.
Before her performance, Miranda thanked the audience for showing up. She said, "I'm Miranda, this is Shane, Ashley, Nicolle, and my guitar player Scotty Wray. We're kind of plugged in and we have a plan, but we're drinking so we'll probably mess it up. I'll go first.”
After performing her hit song “Heart Like Mine,” she joked, "So this is how we do it when we write together, though tonight is better hair, more makeup, fancier clothes, and more expensive wine.”
Lambert seemed to poke fun at her marriage to Blake Shelton indirectly, saying, "A month or so ago I asked my friends, 'Do you want to play City Winery with me?' What they heard was 'wine,' and they were excited it wasn't going to be box wine. But you know how it is some nights — you finish the good wine and then move to the box. You start expensive and when you run out of that, you go cheap. I'm not talking about husbands, I swear."
During the two-hour show, Miranda performed an unreleased song and admitted she had a rotten year last year. She explained, "So this song, I don't know if I can do it without crying. Scotty Wray has been with me since I was 17. For a long time he was my band. We have been through everything together, good and bad. We both went through a really s***ty 2015, and we have the tattoos to prove it. He wrote a song a long time ago called 'Scars.' I never felt like I could sing it till now.”
