Derek Hough Reacts to ‘DWTS’ Changes, Plus: He Talks Quarantine Diet and ‘World of Dance’
Derek Hough is dishing on his quarantine diet ahead of the “World of Dance” finale!
He told “Extra's” Jenn Lahmers about the liver cleanse he is doing with girlfriend Hayley Erbert.
“During this quarantine, we've been having a lot of snacks. We're eating good and being healthy and working out and staying fit and stuff, but we were reading this book and we were like, 'Yeah, let's try it out,'” he said. “We've been absolutely strict with it and we feel good. We see a massive change in our bodies and our skin.”
They're keeping busy at home together, he explained. “It's been good, but we've been cooking a lot and working out and doing arts and crafts and got a new puppy… She's like a Siberian husky mixed with a German shepherd and a chow.”
Hough is a “World of Dance” judge alongside Ne-Yo and Jennifer Lopez. Jenn noted the competition is crazy this season! Derek agreed, saying, “Yeah, they are so creative… mind-boggling. Their flexibility, their strength and creativity is awesome.”
Derek was also part of “Dancing with the Stars” for many years. That show is undergoing some major changes as co-hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews exit and Tyra Banks joins.
Hough is very close to Tom and said, “I was definitely shocked just like everybody else. He's such a staple. He's been there from the beginning, and I just love him. He's such a great guy, amazing man, so I was definitely surprised.”
He added, “You're shocked but surprised, but you also understand. Everybody is trying to switch things up, reinvigorate, do certain things… so you understand.”

So, would he ever return? “We'll see,” he said. “I don't know. Who knows, who knows, man? I was on that show for 17 seasons and it was so special and it pretty much launched my career, so I'm incredibly thankful for it.”
“World of Dance” airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. on NBC.
