Alex Rodriguez Opens Up About Kobe Bryant’s Death: ‘I Don’t Remember Such a Tragic Day in My Life’
Alex Rodriguez took some time out for a good cause in Miami, just days before his fiancée Jennifer Lopez is set to take the stage at the Super Bowl halftime show with Shakira.
Only “Extra's” Jenn Lahmers was with the former Yankee as he presented a $200,000 Gamechanger Fund from FOX Sports Supports to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade's Hank Kline Club.
A-Rod grew up with the Boys and Girls Club, telling Jenn, “Feels great to be back. It's such an emotional feeling… Right there is where I learned to play Major League Baseball, at the Boys and Girls Club. It's so incredible that FOX is giving back to our community.”
Alex also opened up about the death of Kobe Bryant, who died in a horrific helicopter crash on Sunday.
Rodriguez said, “He inspired me in ways I can't even describe. He was such an amazing basketball player and one of the true greats that ever hit the hardwood, and with all that, an even better father and partnership with Vanessa. I don't remember such a tragic day in my life. Too soon, and I love him.”
He revealed this about Jennifer's halftime show: “You are going to see a spectacular show… She got the news from Jay-Z in mid-August and it's been a whirlwind ever since. She's gone at it like she does with everything else.”
Breaking this news, he said, “It really matches the DNA of South Florida, Miami. It's gonna be a really Latin, Hispanic, American twist, and I think one of the best shows people have seen.”
