All Bodies Recovered from Kobe Bryant Helicopter Crash, Plus: NTSB Releases Video of Horrific Site
Days after news broke about Kobe Bryant's tragic helicopter crash, all nine bodies have been recovered.
The Los Angeles County coroner's investigators are working to positively identify the victims.
In a statement, the coroner's office said on Tuesday, “On Sunday afternoon, personnel from the department's Special Operations Response Team (SORT) recovered three bodies from the helicopter wreckage located in the 4200 block of Las Virgenes Road in Calabasas. The next day, the search continued for the other six helicopter occupants. Soon after, their bodies were located, removed from the crash site and transported to the department's Forensic Science Center.”
Earlier in the day, the NTSB released a video of the site where Bryant's helicopter crashed on a Calabasas hillside.
The video features investigators picking up pieces of the Sikorsky S-76 helicopter, including a motor.
While most of the aircraft is in scattered pieces, a large piece of the tail is shown to be intact.
The video was mostly shot by a drone.
According to TMZ, the remaining parts of the helicopter will be shipped to Arizona, where it will be reassembled.
On Monday, NTSB board member Jennifer Homendy told the press, “It was a pretty devastating accident scene.”
Regarding what may have caused the crash, Homendy said, “We take a broad look at everything in an investigation — man, machine, and the environment. And weather is just a small portion of that.”
The crash site has been patrolled by the L.A. County Sheriff's deputies, who are preventing looters from stealing parts as souvenirs.
