Miss Oklahoma Crowned Miss USA Amid Trump Controversy
Miss Oklahoma Olivia Jordan was crowned Miss USA last night in a hot-pink strapless Southern belle-style gown.
In a pageant that seemed to go out of its way to incorporate diversity as a theme (several contestants spoke of their heritage in a taped segment) under the shadow of owner Donald Trump's controversial anti-immigrant comments, Jordan's smooth answer during the interview portion on the topic of race relations may have sealed the deal.
When asked what the next big question facing America might be, Jordan volunteered that the country still needs to come to terms with racial strife. "We have not solved this issue. We really need to work on being an accepting society."
Asked which woman should be on the $10 bill (a woman is slated to replace Alexander Hamilton in 2020), she said she wished it could be Oprah Winfrey, but would be happy with African-American abolitionist Harriet Tubman.

Trump's observations about Mexican immigrants led to the show's originally scheduled hosts to resign, and the pageant was dropped from NBC, landing on the comparatively small network Reelz.
Trump did not attend the pageant.
