More details are surfacing about Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux's shocking split.

A source now tells People that the couple was having problems even before they tied the knot in 2015, saying Justin preferred New York and Jen liked living in L.A.

“Ever since they became serious, the living issue often made them bicker. It was always hard for Jen to understand why Justin didn't like, or at least could learn to like L.A., when she was in L.A.,” the insider said.

The bicoastal pair tried to make it work. The source added, “With Jen feeling so strongly about living in L.A. and disliking NYC so much, she wanted Justin to be happy and that's why she agreed that he should spend so much time in NYC”

Before announcing the split, Jen and Justin saw each other in person one final time, and the meet-up happened on Valentine's Day.

People magazine reports they met after Theroux jetted to L.A. to see Aniston in person so they could decide when to announce they were calling it quits.

A source told People, "They saw each other late at night on Valentine's Day in L.A. They decided together that they would make the announcement the next day."

Aniston reportedly hoped to keep the news private to avoid media attention.

The couple announced they were divorcing on February 15, days after Aniston turned 49 and following a Mexican vacation that had been seen as a last-ditch effort to shore up their union.
