'Vanderpump Rules' Star Apologizes for Belittling #MeToo Movement

Stassi Schroeder of "Vanderpump Rules" is apologizing for comments she made about the #MeToo movement, Us Weekly reports.

In a "Straight Up with Stassi" podcast, Schroeder had said many rape victims had originally been "willing" to go to hotels, and questioned whether some might be coming forward with their stories now to jump on the "hashtag me too trend" bandwagon. She also cast doubt on the idea that anyone could be forced to perform oral sex.

Following an overwhelming backlash from listeners, Schroeder deleted the podcast and issued an apology that reads:

"My podcast is an outlet for me to share my unfiltered opinion with my listeners; but on my latest episode I crossed a line. It was irresponsible for me to make generalized statements about a very serious topic, such as sexual harassment, as it is not my place to speak about anyone else's experience. I apologize. I will continue to speak my mind on my podcast, but will put more thought behind my dialogue (sic) moving forward."

She later attempted to calm things down by tweeting her intention to tell the stories of people "being accused of something you didn't do or being victimized & left helpless."

Even after apologizing, Schroeder defiantly retweeted two defenses of her comments, including one from pop singer Jordan Pruitt.
