“Extra's” Jenn Lahmers sat down with Demi, who opened up about her decision to come out as bisexual on the show, and the positive reaction she received from GLAAD.
Demi said, “I had no idea that it was going to be this important,” adding, “I was just living my life and loving who I love.”
Gushing over Kristian, she said, “She is unlike anyone I have ever met. She walks into a room and everyone falls in love with her. She just has the warmest energy. I'm really lucky to know her.”
Demi and Kristian are going strong, though, so could we see an engagement in the future? “I don't know… we'll have to see,” Demi said.
How does it feel to make history on the Bachelor Nation franchise? “To be the first one to have an actual physical relationship on the screen, I think that's it's just important to be yourself and be who you are and it's going to be okay,” she said.
Demi had no idea, however, that Kristian was coming on the show: “It wasn't my decision. I was really shocked she did come on. I thought I was walking up the stairs to leave.” Overall, she feels the reaction has been good: “The majority of it is all positive, and that's all I focus on.”
Her relationship with Derek is officially over, she shared. “That conversation is not fun for anyone to have whenever someone is ending things with you, and the way he took it was so mature… I think he's a really great guy,” she said.
What will fans see when “BIP” returns next week? “We're going to stay in Paradise and explore our relationship, and we're going to cry — but it was a good time.”
“Bachelor in Paradise” airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
