Congressman-Elect Forgives Pete Davidson on 'SNL'
A week after offending many by poking fun at veteran Dan Crenshaw's eye patch — days before he was elected to the House of Representatives as a Republican — a contrite Pete Davidson addressed the controversy on "SNL," and he had Crenshaw on the show to help bury the hatchet.
Pete Davidson Addresses Breakup on 'SNL,' Ariana Drops New Song
View Story“In what I'm sure was a huge shock to people who know me," Davidson, 24, began, "I made a poor choice last week." He went on to say, "If any good came of this, maybe that it was for one day the left and the right came together to agree on something: that I'm a d-ck."
Congressman-elect Crenshaw, 34, played along, accepting the apology while thanking Davidson for "making a Republican look good," but insisting on insulting Pete's physical appearance a few times first. He even showed off his ringtone — which featured the Ariana Grande tune "Breathin'." Letting it play, he explained it would be rude to answer it, before asking Davidson coyly, "Oh, do you know her?"
The funny makeup sesh ended with a serious message from Crenshaw about the debt we owe our veterans (with a special reference to Pete's late father, who died on 9/11), just in time for Veterans Day 2018 (which this year falls on Sunday, but is observed on Monday, November 12).
