Alan Thicke’s Wife Speaks on Her 'Gut-Wrenching Sadness' After His Death
One week after he suddenly passed away, Alan Thicke's wife Tanya Callau is breaking her silence.
On Tuesday, Callau, 41, said in a statement to People magazine, "It is with gut wrenching sadness and unbelievable grief that I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for the outpouring of love and support during this unimaginable time.”
"Through tears and smiles our dearest of family and friends came together at our home to celebrate the life of my sweet and devoted husband Alan Thicke,” she added. "Yesterday, along with my step sons and our combined extended family, we laid my beloved husband, soul mate and the patriarch of our family to rest. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time of profound mourning.”
Alan's former daughter-in-law Paula Patton also posted an emotional tribute to him on the same day. She wrote on Instagram, "I knew Alan since I was 15 years old and he had a tremendous effect on my life. I loved and respected him so much! So many great memories and laughs together. We will miss him so much! His grandson is quite sure he is still here with us in spirit. ❤️."
Last week, Alan's ex-wife Gloria Loring, 70, opened up about how she and their sons Brennan and Robin were coping with his death. She told People, "My son Brennan sent me a text that said: 'Dad's had a heart attack — it's a big deal.' I called back but he didn't answer the phone. Then I got a call from Robin after that. Robin said that they had taken him to the hospital and that he was going into surgery. I said: 'Well, that sounds hopeful.' Literally minutes later, I got a text message from Brennan that said: 'He's gone.'”
"When I read it, I said out loud: 'No.' At first, I couldn't believe it. I thought: 'What? No. It can't be true. It's too fast. It's too final,'” she continued.
Gloria also revealed that Robin and Brennan were "just devastated and could barely talk.” She elaborated, “I've sent them some messages and have called — neither of them are answering their phones right now.”
Loring also acknowledged Tanya while mourning Alan's passing. She said, "We all feel so devastated for Tanya and for Carter. They're living with him every day. That physical loss — we have the emotional and psychological loss — but for them to also have the physical loss of his presence and his humor and his perspective and wisdom and guidance… my heart goes out to both of them so much.”
