Harvey Weinstein Reportedly Heading to Treatment, Wife Leaves Him
More breaking news in the Harvey Weinstein case… he is reportedly seeking treatment, and his wife has left him.
Sources told The Blast he will enter a live-in treatment facility outside the country, and could be headed there as early as tonight. He supposedly met with several specialists to find the best fit.
News of the treatment plan broke as his wife, Georgina Chapman, announced she was leaving the mogul.
Chapman, a designer for Marchesa, told People, “My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgivable actions. I have chosen to leave my husband. Caring for my young children is my first priority and I ask the media for privacy at this time.”
Harvey, 65, and Georgina, 41, wed in 2007. They are parents to India, 7, and Dashiell, 4. Weinstein is also father to three older daughters – Lily, 22, Emma, 19, and Ruth, 14 – from his marriage to Eve Chilton Weinstein.
The film producer has faced sweeping allegations of sexual harassment, and later rape, after the New York Times and New Yorker released investigative reports about him.
Weinstein's spokeswoman, Sallie Hofmeister, told the Times in a statement, “Any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr. Weinstein. Mr. Weinstein has further confirmed that there were never any acts of retaliation against any women for refusing his advances. He will not be available for further comments, as he is taking the time to focus on his family, on getting counseling and rebuilding his life.”
