Lupita Nyong’o and Danai Gurira Reveal Their Next Project, Plus: Those 'Charlie’s Angels' Rumors
Actress Lupita Nyong'o and Danai Gurira have their next project set after what is sure to be a wildly successful “Black Panther.”
“Extra's” AJ Calloway spoke to Lupita and Danai just one day after the epic Hollywood premiere of the movie. The two discussed their on-screen girl power, and broke the news that they are set to work together again!
Lupita shared, “'Americanah' is next. And Danai is writing it.” Danai added, “And Lupita is the lead role.” Both women are executive producers.
Lupita is also rumored to be starring in a “Charlie's Angels” reboot. She played coy, saying, “Oh yes, there's all kind of rumors out there.” Danai asked, “I thought that was real-real? I read that!” Lupita did not commit to anything, only smiling in response.
In “Black Panther,” Nyong'o plays a Special Forces warrior, while Gurira is a General of the Wakandan Armed Forces. The duo saw the film for the first time at the premiere. Of the female power on the big screen, Lupita said, “It was so… intriguing and… arresting. It had me the whole time… and then we're in it, which is kind of bizarre, 'cause you're fangirling over this thing and then you're in it and you're like, 'Wait a minute, hold on.' It was just a lot of emotion.”
Danai shared, “It was awesome. It was amazing… there's that deep desire to have little girls watch it and connect... we want that for little girls. We want representation.”
"Black Panther" hits theaters February 16.
