I Won't Be Back: Schwarzenegger Denies Rumors of Political Return
Arnold Schwarzenegger is many things, but future senator is not one of them.
Though rumor had it that Schwarzenegger might run as an Independent in a bid to unseat longtime California Sen. Dianne Feinstein, a Democrat, the actor and former Governor of California took to Facebook to tamp down the expectations.
“I'm deeply flattered by all of the people who have approached me about running for Senate, but my mission right now is to bring sanity to Washington through redistricting reform like we passed here in California,” he wrote. “Gerrymandering has completely broken our political system and I believe my best platform to help repair it is from the outside, by campaigning for independent redistricting commissions."
Gerrymandering, the act of changing the boundaries of districts in order to favor one party over another at election time, has become a hot-button issue of late, with a Texas court deciding that areas of that state had been racially gerrymandered.

Schwarzenegger's most recent gig was as host of "The New Celebrity Apprentice," on which he replaced Donald Trump when Trump left to run for president. The show has not been renewed.
