Lady Gaga Opens Up to Jimmy Kimmel About Her Intimate Oscars Duet with Bradley Cooper
Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper put on a buzzworthy performance of “Shallow” at the Oscars, and now she's breaking her silence on the intimate duet.
Gaga, who won an Oscar for the “A Star Is Born” hit, stopped by “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” where she set the record straight about what fans were seeing up on that stage.
Jimmy commented that viewers at home felt such a connection between the co-stars that many thought “they must be in love.”
Gaga gave a big eyeroll, calling social media “the toilet of the Internet.”
“Yes, people saw love and guess what? That is what we wanted you to see. This is a love song, 'Shallow,' it is a love story, 'A Star Is Born.'"
She went on to reveal that Cooper had the vision for their stage performance.
“Everything that you saw, the way it was shot, the way that they pushed the piano out… us walking up onstage, no intro — that was all him,” she explained, adding that Bradley also wanted the amber lighting.
“From a performance perspective, it was so important to both of us that we were connected the entire time. I've had my arms wrapped around Tony Bennett for three years touring the world. When you are singing love songs, that is what you want people to feel.”
She later added, “I'm an artist, and I guess we did a good job." She laughed, adding, “Fooled ya!”
“A Star Is Born” fans will have one more chance to see it in theaters when the film returns for a one-week encore run starting Friday. Even better, this version will include 12 minutes of additional footage.
