Granger Smith’s Son’s Cause of Death Revealed

There are new details in the tragic death of Granger Smith and his wife Amber's 3-year-old son, River.
The country star's rep has confirmed to People that River “died in a tragic drowning accident at home.”
In the wake of the new information, professional beach volleyball star Morgan Miller shared her heartbreak over the tragedy on social media.
Morgan and her husband, Olympic skier Bode Miller, lost their 19-month-old daughter Emeline in a drowning accident last year.
She shared on Instagram Stories, “My heart breaks. Another baby gone too soon.”
The volleyball player added a reminder to all parents to “add layers of protection.” She suggested starting swim lessons young and investing in devices like the solar-powered CORAL Manta drowning detection system. “It can truly happen to anyone,” she said. “I urge you to make your babies safer.”

On Thursday, Granger broke the “unthinkable”news on social media. He tweeted, “We've lost our youngest son, River Kelly Smith. Following a tragic accident, and despite doctor's best efforts, he was unable to be revived. Amber and I made the decision to say our last goodbyes… Our family is devastated and heartbroken, but we take solace in knowing he is with his Heavenly Father.”
Granger remembered his youngest son, writing, “Riv was special. Everyone that met him knew that immediately. The joy he brought to our lives cannot be expressed and his light will be forever in our hearts.”
Smith revealed that his son's organs were donated “so other children will be given a second chance at life.”
In lieu of flowers or gifts, Granger is asking that donations be made to Dell Children's Medical Center in River's name.
Smith ended his statement, stressing, “Love the ones close to you. There has never been a more difficult moment for us than this.”
Amber shared the same statement on Instagram, adding a pic of herself with River.
