Anthony Anderson Hopes Jussie Smollett Wins at NAACP Awards 2019

“Black-ish” star Anthony Anderson is back hosting the NAACP Awards for the sixth consecutive year.

On Wednesday, “Extra's” Terri Seymour caught up with Anderson, who shared his thoughts on fellow nominee Jussie Smollett.

Jussie Smollett, nominated for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series, is scheduled to appear at the show, after all charges were dropped against him. Anderson said, “I hope he wins, I hope everyone wins!” He added, “I am glad everything has worked out for him. I hope he is here so he can celebrate with his community, with his family, and with his friends.”

The NAACAP is celebrating a special anniversary, moving to a new theater this year. Anderson said, “It's always been my mission to move the award show to the Dolby… and here were are, the 50th Anniversary of the NAACP Image Awards.”

“A lot of people are getting some prestigious awards,” Anthony pointed out. Some of those people include JAY-Z and Beyoncé. While playing coy on whether they are coming or performing, he said, “We have some very special guests…We're going big.”
