Empty Seat at Royal Wedding Explained! No, It Wasn’t for Princess Diana
An empty seat at the royal wedding wasn't in honor of Princess Diana as many believed.
Daily Mail's Rebecca English explained the vacant chair next to Prince William was actually for the Queen! She tweeted, “The seat in front of the Queen is always left empty.”
Btw - I've seen some reports about the spare seat by Prince William in the chapel as having being left in memory of Princess Diana. It wasn't empty for that reason. The seat in front of the Queen is always left empty, I am told by BP #royalwedding

Despite the gone-viral reporting about the chair, it turns out there were many tributes to Prince Harry's mother throughout the ceremony.
For instance, Meghan Markle's bouquet featured Diana's favorite flower, forget-me-nots, which Harry hand-picked himself!
Markle's veil was also reminiscent of Diana's extremely long headpiece from her 1981 nuptials to Prince Charles.
Diana's sister, Lady Jane Fellowes, also gave a reading from the Song of Solomon. It was the only reading at the ceremony. Watch it below!

At the reception, Harry and Meghan remembered Diana by having her longtime friend Elton John perform.
