Did Mariah Carey & James Packer Break Off Their Engagement?

Rumors are swirling that Mariah Carey and fiancé James Packer have called off their engagement!

Was her new reality show, “Mariah's World," to blame? A source told Woman's Day, "It's all over. James had huge reservations about Mariah's new reality TV show and the fact that she was willing to expose their lives to the world.”

Packer may have pulled the plug on the relationship after Carey taped a “sort of rendezvous with one of the dancers in her Vegas show” for her reality series, according to TMZ.

Another source close to the billionaire told People magazine, "James is very private, and doesn't need the media to be successful. He doesn't want to be a part of Mariah's reality show.”

The insider went on, "They are not together right now. They split a couple of weeks ago. It's possible they will get back together. They are still talking, but James needed a break.”

Another insider added that her spending habits may have played a role in their breakup, saying, "Some of Mariah's eccentric ways, especially her spending habits, caused drama. James is the most generous person ever, but he definitely doesn't agree with senseless spending.”

Over the weekend, Mariah spent time with her ex-husband Nick Cannon and their twins Monroe and Moroccan at her annual Halloween party in Los Angeles. James was noticeably absent. At the time, a source told TMZ that James was not a fan of Halloween parties.

Mariah's recent absence from a birthday party also reportedly threw a wrench into their relationship. A friend close to Packer told Woman's Day, "When she refused to come to Australia for [Packer's sister's] birthday party it created a lot of tension in the family… His mom hated to even hear her name mentioned, and James' tight circle of friends never really thought they would marry.”
