Katy greeted Mario, saying, “One thing about Mario is that he looks good, he smells good and, like, he is just such a good guy.” She said of his dimples, "I just want to touch them! These are my favorite things in the world.” Mario smiled, saying, “I'm all thrown off my game now.” Katy gushed, “By the way, you've gotten hotter!”
The future is looking bright for Perry, who is kicking off her tour in September and who has signed on to be a judge on the new “American Idol,” set to air on ABC next year. She revealed who she would love to share the judges' table with, dishing, “My dream people would be Rihanna and Tim McGraw.” She went on to say, “I've always been in talks with 'American Idol,' but it's time now more than ever… It's time now to really make people's dreams come true and to show them dreams do come true.”
She added, “You have to figure out what you're good at, and everyone's good at something.” Of the auditions, slated to start this summer, the 32-year-old shared she wants to “pull out those diamonds in the rough and do some shaping.”
Katy is all for giving her fans an all-access glimpse into her world, sharing, “One of my main goals is that, like, if, you know, people can see any part of themselves — even when I'm brushing my teeth in the mirror — of themselves inside me, and they can maybe go, 'Oh, I can dream just as big as Katy Perry.'" When Mario commented that it is “revolutionary, courageous, and ambitious," Katy quipped, “I don't have anything to hide.”
The concept of “Witness World Wide” was her idea, elaborating, “It was my idea and I had, it was just like an a-ha moment… The world is changing so much, our news is changing, politics is changing, entertainment is changing, how we ingest information is changing, and I was like, 'There's no way that I can just, like, send a link out to go and check out the album.' I was like, 'I've gotta come up with a bigger idea than just that.' My whole goal is just to try and be as authentic as possible. This is the way I can do it — by not hiding at all.”
Katy is partnering with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, a charity Mario holds close to his heart. Katy visited the Hollywood location recently because she wanted to “witness the future.” She plans to pop up in clubs across the country while on tour, pointing out, “Every ticket that is sold, one dollar goes to Boys & Girls Clubs of America.” Folks can also win amazing tickets to her shows for donating their time to the Boys & Girls Clubs, visit Bgca.org.
The superstar is fresh off performing in Manchester at Ariana Grande's One Love Manchester. Of the concert, Katy emphasized, “It was really important for me to show my support in any way I could and to stand in solidarity. I just wanted to be there for not only Ariana and be there for Manchester, and be there for all the community of music in my own small little way that I could.”
