Tom Brady Won the Super Bowl for His Mom, Who Is Battling Cancer
Last night, Tom Brady won his fifth Super Bowl title with the New England Patriots as his loved ones cheered him on, including mom Galynn and wife Gisele Bündchen.
Though his team was down 28-3, Brady guided his team to victory in the second half of the game. It was a win he wanted for his mom, who is battling cancer.
Tom's dad shared to The MMQB, “It was just awesome. He puts everything he can into every single game. But this one, I heard he just said, 'I'm winning this one for my mom.' That one jerks the tear ducts big-time… She lives and dies with every one of her children, whether it's in a football game or anything else. And she was very thankful. Very thankful, yeah, just very thankful that this played out.”
Following the win, Patriots owner Robert Kraft opened up on Galynn's health, telling People magazine, "I spoke to [Brady] in the locker room before the game, and I said, 'We gotta win this one for your mom,' because I know how important his mom is. She's been going through chemotherapy and radiation, and this is the first game she's been to. She came here, and I just saw her, and it was really cool.”
Tom posted a photo of himself kissing his mom on the cheek on Sunday. He wrote, "Sandwich kiss for Mom at Picture Day!!! Go Pats!!!!”

Brady celebrated the emotional win with his family, including his kids and wife Gisele, who were all on hand for his history-making performance. After the Patriots defeated the Atlanta Falcons, Gisele's ecstatic reaction was caught on camera. She was so excited that she even dropped her phone!
During Monday's press conference, Tom spoke about his mom, saying, "She's been through a lot. Way harder than what I went through last night, what the team went through. All families go through challenging times personally. I'm just happy to be able to celebrate.”
Earlier in the week, Brady commented on rumors that his mom would be too sick to attend Super Bowl LI, saying, "Yeah, it's personal with my family. I'm just hoping everyone is here on Sunday to share a great experience. It has been a tough year. Every family goes through different things. My family has always been a great support system for me.”
Last week, Brady also made headlines for his emotional moment with a 7-year-old reporter, who asked him to name his hero. He said, “That's a great question. I think my dad is my hero, because he's someone I look up to every day."
