Tom Hanks on His 25-Year Marriage: ‘I Got Lucky’
“Extra’s” Maria Menounos sat down with Tom Hanks to discuss his new film “Captain Phillips” and talk about his marriage to actress Rita Wilson.
Hanks said there is no secret to their successful 25-year union. “I got lucky… No secrets, it’s about winning the lottery. She could’ve done better, but man oh man, I’m no dope. I’m sticking with her.”
As for his gripping portrayal of a captain whose cargo ship is taken hostage by Somali pirates, the Oscar winner said he could relate to the real-life Richard Phillips.
While shooting “Captain Phillips,” Hanks was away from home a long time. “Rita was very busy at home. We were wondering when we were going to see each other again because I was in Malta. She was all over the U.S.”
“Captain Phillips” drops anchor October 11.
