Henry Cavill Wore Christopher Reeve’s Original Suit Before Nabbing Superman Role
“Extra” got the exclusive on Henry Cavill's new DuJour spring 2016 cover, which features him rocking a buzz cut!
Before he takes on Batman, Cavill sat down with the magazine to chat about playing Superman. He said, "This is going to sound cheesy, but it's true: What really matters to me is Superman being represented correctly; protecting the S, that's essential."
Before he was cast in the title role in 2013's “Man of Steel,” he had to audition in the famous Superman suit worn by legendary actor Christopher Reeve. Director Zack Synder revealed, "We didn't have the suit made when Henry was auditioning, so he wore the original Christopher Reeve suit. He put it on and when he came out of the trailer, everyone was like, 'Dang, you're Superman!'”
After “Man of Steel” grossed over $650 million worldwide, Cavill became a household name in Hollywood. He was recently named British Glamour's Sexiest Man of the Year. Of the honor, he smiled, “You've got to be worried about this sh*t getting to your head. It's enormously flattering, but I'm not going to throw all my eggs in that basket.”
Henry wasn't always considered so sexy — he was called “fat” in boarding school. He confessed, "They used to call me Fat Cavill… I was a prime target.”
