How Katy Perry & Orlando Bloom Are Handling Their Split, Plus: Will They Reconcile?

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have both returned to social media after their surprising split.
On Wednesday, Orlando raised eyebrows by posting an Instagram story of Katy's puppy on the beach in Malibu. It was only days after he hung out with the puppy and called her pooch “a mighty heart."
Katy appears to be doing just fine after the breakup. On the same day, she posted an Instagram video of herself smiling and goofing off. Instead of commenting on the split, she put the focus on her sister and her friends, writing, "Best thing about making this record is that everyone helping me make it is just as coo-coo as I am 💁🏼@sarahhudsonxx @laurenglucksman.”
A source recently told People magazine about Orlando and Katy's relationship, "It was never really supposed to be serious between them.”
Another insider hinted that a reconciliation could happen, telling E! News, "They both still love each other very much, though, and getting back together could happen once they have some space.”
A third insider said that the two "are still in contact and want to keep everything between them pretty private.” The friend added, "Katy has built a really strong connection with Flynn. It's sad but it will work out how it's supposed to.”
Earlier this week, the two released a joint statement through their reps that read, "Before rumors or falsifications get out of hand, we can confirm that Orlando and Katy are taking respectful, loving space at this time.”
