Kim Kardashian Speaks Out After Kanye West’s Twitter Tirades
Though Kanye West is claiming he's been “trying to get divorced,” wife Kim Kardashian is coming to his defense.
On Wednesday morning, Kardashian asked for “compassion” while discussing Kanye. She wrote on Instagram, “As many of you know, Kanye has bi-polar disorder. Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does, knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand. I've never spoken publicly about how this has affected us at home because I am very protective of our children and Kanye's right to privacy when it comes to his health. But today, I feel like I should comment on it because of the stigma and misconceptions about mental health."
“Those that understand mental illness or even compulsive behavior know that the family is powerless unless the member is a minor," she elaborated. "People who are unaware or far removed from this experience can be judgmental and not understand that the individual themselves have to engage in the process of getting help no matter how hard family and friends try."
Kim went on, “I understand Kanye is subject to criticism because he is a public figure and his actions at time can cause strong opinions and emotions. He is a brilliant but complicated person who on top of being an artist and a black man, who experienced the painful loss of his mother, and has to deal with the pressure and isolation that is heightened by his bi-polar disorder. Those who are close with Kanye know his heart and understand his words sometimes do not align with his intentions."
Before wrapping up her lengthy note, Kim emphasized, “Living with bi-polar disorder does not diminish or invalidate his dreams and his creative ideas, no matter how big or unobtainable they may feel to some. That is part of his genius and as we have all witnessed, many of his dreams have come true. We as a society talk about giving grace to the issue of mental health as a whole, however we should also give it to the individuals who are living with it in times when they need it the most. I kindly ask that the media and public give us the compassion and empathy that is needed so that we can get through this. Thank you for those who have expressed concern for Kanye's well-being and for your understanding."
The night before, Kanye seemed to reference her statement in a now-deleted tweet. He said, “Kriss and Kim put out a statement without my approval ... that's not what a wife should do.”
On the same night, Kanye claimed that he's been looking to end their marriage for two years. He said in a now-deleted tweet, “I've been trying to get divorced since Kim met with Meek at the Warldolf for 'prison reform.' Meek is my man and was respectful That's my dog Kim was out of line I'm worth 5 billion dollars and more than that through Christ But ya'll ain't listen to MJ and now ya'll believe them???"
Earlier this week, he claimed — while referencing his recent comments about almost aborting daughter North — that Kim “was trying to fly to Wyoming with a doctor to lock me up like on the movie Get Out because I cried about saving my daughters life yesterday.”
"Everybody knows the movie get out is about me,” West added about the 2017 horror film by Jordan Peele, adding a racial element to his attacks on his wife and her family.
“I put my life on my God that North's mom would never photograph her doing playboy and that's on God," he continued. "I'm at the ranch... come and get me."
Kanye West Goes on Epic Rant About Kim Kardashian
View StoryKanye is currently quarantining in Wyoming without Kim and their kids. He's been surrounded by his friends, including Dave Chappelle.
Kim has reportedly “been trying to get Kanye help for weeks.” A source told People magazine, “Kim's family is around to support her as always. And they love Kanye. They want him to be healthy. They are all trying to figure out how to help Kanye. They are in contact with medical professionals for guidance."
Kanye's Twitter rants came hot on the heels of his first campaign rally in South Carolina, where he got emotional discussing North. During the rally, Kanye claimed that he and Kim came close to terminating her pregnancy. He said, “She was crying… and for one month and two months and three months, we talked about her not having this child. She had the pills in her hand."
He told the crowd a message from God led to the decision for Kim to have North after all. "I'm in the apartment where my wife was actually robbed, and I have my laptop up and I have all of my creative ideas, I've got my shoes, I've got my next song cover… and the screen went black-and-white, and God said, 'If you f--- with my vision I'm gonna f--- with yours.' And I called my wife and she said, 'We're gonna have this baby,' and I said 'We're gonna have this child.'"
Sobbing, West blurted out, "I almost killed my daughter! I almost killed my daughter! I love my daughter!"
