Jennifer Connelly Talks Working with Tom Cruise on 'Top Gun: Maverick' and Her New Show 'Snowpiercer'
Jennifer Connelly is coming to TV with “Snowpiercer,” the TNT adaptation of Bong Joon-ho's 2013 post-apocalyptic film. “Extra's” Renee Bargh caught up with Connelly to learn more about the series, and to dish with her about her upcoming film “Top Gun: Maverick.”
“Top Gun: Maverick” was set to debut June 24, but has been postponed to December 23 due to the pandemic. The movie is the sequel to Tom Cruise's 1986 fighter pilot classic.
Jennifer told Renee she can't wait to see the movie herself, saying, “Those flying sequences are going to be so extraordinary. I think it is a movie that would be great to see on big screens if we can get there.”
She also praised Tom's work ethic, saying, “I've never seen anyone work harder, be more committed to his work… Every moment is an opportunity to do all that he can do to deliver the best thing that he can possibly deliver.”
Jennifer added, “I've never been more paranoid about knowing my lines. This is a tight ship. He's so prepared. All the time."
She is also taking on a juicy role in “Snowpiercer,” which is about humans forced to live on a globe-spanning train in order to survive a new ice age.
Connelly plays the head of hospitality, and said, “I thought it had potential to be a fun, exciting, adventure of a show… The show is based on both the graphic novel and the film, but tells a different story.”
They already have a second season in the works! Connelly revealed, “It was actually nearly completed when production stopped. I had actually finished my work on it.”
“Snowpiercer” premieres Sunday at 9 p.m. on TNT.
